Petra & Marc

Marc & Petra’s wedding was a labor of love that sprung from wanting to create a comfortable environment for their guests that was not only representative of the two artists, but one that would also be fitting of the location – a bridesmaid’s historic childhood estate in Santa Barbara, Ca.

The highly curated picnic reception was inspired by both Manet’s Luncheon on the Grass and Stella McCartney’s 2011 Resort Wear Collection, which later became part of Petra’s custom bridal gown designed by Stella herself.

The execution of this vision was fueled by the mother of the bride’s deft hand at sewing. Each of the 23 unique picnic blankets and 150 embroidered gift pillows were entirely crafted by Petra, her mother and one of her bridesmaids. From there, the addition of tables handmade by the best man, beautiful calligraphy, abundant florals and farm fresh picnic fare resulted in an afternoon wedding unlike many others.

And just like their unique art, Marc & Petra’s ideas to have hidden “selfie mirrors” instead of a photo booth, and a drone instead of a videographer, took this affair to the next level. One filled with an immense amount of love (and sandwiches;) that can only really be expressed when friends and family are their most comfortable and happy selves.
